SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND APPLICATION INTERESTS Chemical and Biological Technology

- Chemical Product Formulation, Synthesis and Production: Formulation of various chemical mixtures as cleaning agents, water repellent impregnants and synthesis of some organic compounds such as agricultural chemicals and esters based on vegetable oils etc., Design and manufacturing of equipments needed for chemical production such as multipurpose batch reactors, solid particles dryers, gas absoption and scrubbing columns etc..

- Wastewater Treatment Engineering: Design of domestic and industrial aerobic / anaerobic wastewater treatment systems and their applications, Fluidized bed and magnetically stabilized bed bio- film reactors for wastewater treatment, Modeling studies of aerobic / anaerobic wastewater treatment - biogas production - systems, Chemical and biological analyses of wastewater.

- Enzyme and Fermentation Engineering: Kinetics of enzyme reactions in homogenous and heterogeneous media, Solvent effects on the enzyme (specifically lipase) activity, Enzyme deactivation kinetics, Immobilization of enzymes and Industrial applications of some enzymes such as amylases, lipases etc., Microencapsulation of enzyme mixtures, Biosensors. Production of some microbial enzymes such as rennin and baker’s yeastby fermentation. Design of fermentation equipments ( fermentor, aerator etc. ).

Material Science

- Polymers and Coating Technology: Preparation of reversible soluble – insoluble ionic responsive polymers in aqueous medium, Preparation of magnetic/non-magnetic polymer particles as protein-drug carriers, Formulation of some special paints such as IR – camouflage, thermal resistance etc., Polymer (silicon, silane, polystyrene etc. ) coating/impregnation of solid powders and surfaces for the protection against the moisture (water repellent property), the production of fire extinguishing powders.

- Composite Material Technology: Preparation of composite material based on silicon carbide, synthetic fibers and polymeric materials, Development of precast construction material based on GFRC- glass fiber reinforced white cement, Formulation of effervescent chlorine tablets.
